Ausley McMullen hosts Law & Leadership Program for area college students

Ausley McMullen welcomed a group of aspiring young professionals for our Law & Leadership Program, a new initiative designed to develop the next generation of legal talent in the Capital City. Our offices and the Leon County Courthouse became classrooms for learning, conversation, and inspiration.
This program was created to fill a gap that too many young people encounter when considering a career in law. For decades, Tallahassee has been home to an extraordinary community of attorneys, judges, and public servants, yet many students still have little exposure to what the legal profession truly offers. Without that early insight, it is difficult for them to imagine themselves as future attorneys, advocates, or community leaders.
Throughout the day, participants met with judges, attorneys, and FSU law school leaders. They toured the courthouse, joined roundtable discussions on different practice areas, and heard candid advice from professionals who were once in their shoes. They also learned what it takes to apply to law school and what it means to pursue a life in the law with integrity and purpose.
The legal field is changing rapidly. Technology, economics, and social dynamics are reshaping how we practice and who chooses to enter the profession. Yet the demand for skilled, ethical, and community-minded lawyers has never been greater. Every community needs advocates who understand both the law and the people they serve.
But this effort should not stop with the legal community. Every business, school, and non-profit needs people who understand and are committed to their mission and its role in the larger community.
That is why programs like this matter. They introduce young people to the realities and responsibilities of their chosen field before they make big decisions about their future.
Every local business has the ability, and the opportunity to invest in our next generation. Tallahassee’s future depends on how well we prepare young people to find their place in our economy and our civic life.
At Ausley McMullen, we believe mentorship is not optional. It is a professional obligation. The Law & Leadership Program is one way we can honor that responsibility by helping students find clarity, confidence, and encouragement on their path forward towards a legal career.
