Ausley McMullen has the skill, the relationships, and the experience to assist clients in every aspect of representation before state, local, and federal agencies.

The Administrative Law and Government Affairs team regularly represents clients before all agencies of government. Whether the representation is lobbying or negotiating the regulatory process, the team has a depth and wealth of experience in assisting clients in their relationships with the State of Florida. If those matters involve administrative litigation, they regularly handle all types of proceedings before the Division of Administrative Hearings, including proceedings affecting substantial interests, bid protests, rule challenges, permit and licensing matters, state tax matters, disciplinary cases, and other types of regulatory disputes.

Diverse Experience

Members of this team are extremely knowledgeable about Florida’s Administrative Procedure Act, the Government in the Sunshine Law, the Public Records Act, and other statutes that regulate and limit the discretion of state agencies, cities, and counties. In conjunction with the Ethics and Elections team, the attorneys also advise clients on compliance with gift, lobbying, and campaign-finance laws. Several attorneys previously worked for the Florida Attorney General’s Office and are familiar with that office’s administrative law duties, including the Attorney General’s representation of professional licensing boards, the Florida Commission on Ethics, and the Florida Elections Commission.

Industry Knowledge

Attorneys on this team have represented clients across a broad set of sectors including, but not limited to, health care, agriculture, construction and development, finance, telecommunication, transportation, utilities, and nonprofit.

The Administrative Law Team

This team is highly skilled and knows the intricacies of the administrative and regulatory field. For example, several attorneys have served as general counsel or special counsel to state agencies, one attorney is Board Certified in State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice by the Florida Bar, and another currently serves as Chair of the Administrative Law Section of the Florida Bar. Richard Doran, former Florida Attorney General, also maintains close ties in the Executive and Legislative branches.

This team’s skills are highlighted by the fact that state administrative agencies frequently seek its attorneys as outside counsel on important matters. Whatever your issue before a state or local agency may be, Ausley McMullen has the skill, the relationships, and the experience to assist you.
